Remember, technically if you are a male between the ages of 17 and 46, not a felon, and are mentally capable, you are a militia member. However, like any organization, a militia and or its members can commit unlawful acts, or even acts of domestic terror. It can be argued that while these bodies refer to themselves as a militia, they generally better fit the description of a gang or a cult.

Militias give gun control groups the hives - they don't like so many guns in the hands of an organized opposition. Interestingly, many gun control groups have no issue with PMCs (Private Military Corporations) even though these are essentially corporate militias organized for business purposes...
